Delft University of Technology (TUD)Delft University of Technology provides top-level technical and scientific education in a great number of disciplines amongst which geo-information. The research objectives of the Section GIS-technology are supporting technological developments and performing high-quality education and research in the field of Geographic Information Systems. The section GIS-technology deals with the technological aspects of processing large amounts of geo-information, 3D modelling, storage, querying, analysis, presentation and spatial computational models. The research programme concentrates on the theme geo-DBMS. GIS-technological research is influenced by fast developments in many related disciplines: Internet, computer graphics, spatially-enabled databases, computational and dynamic models within geoscience disciplines. To be able to follow these developments, GIS technology has founded the Geo-Database Management Center (GDMC), which includes several industry partners (Oracle Spatial, Bentley, Intergraph, ESRI). TUD as one of the leading research institutions within this topic will address together with FHG-IGD 3D GIS and geo-DBMS. |
